SECURITYinSTORE Technical Tips

LUX
Lux is a measurement of light. Zero lux is darkness. For well lit situations a 3 lux camera will suffice. For changable lighting conditions use go for about 0.1 lux, for low light you need to go down to about 0.01 lux or more. The Day/Night infrared will see colour during the day, then change to black and white (which sees better in low light)at about 3 lux and turn thier infrared lamps on for viewing in COMPLETE darkness.

CHOOSING LENSES
Lenses come in FIXED or VARIFOCAL types. 
FIXED means that if you have a 4mm lens you cannot adjust the size of the view or focal point - it is fixed.
VARIFOCAL means you can set the camera up to give you a wide angle or a narrow angle by adjusting the lens when installing the camera. Setting the lens 'wide' (ie 2.9°) means you will see a big picture but no detail. Adjusting the lens to a narrower field of vision brings things much closer, ideal for number plate reading for instance.
